Here’s some info on a great collectable book called By Cameron Crowe 1972 – 1979. It was obviously put out at the same time to promote Almost Famous. It’s a beautiful 100 page soft cover book of Rolling Stone articles by Cameron with pictures by Neal Preston/Annie Leibovitz, along with his first interview for The San Diego Door. The book includes the following articles:

Jerry Maguire Special Edition DVD & Deleted Scenes

DVD Shrine is reporting that the Special Edition Jerry Maguire DVD (produced by JM Kenny) will be released on December 4th. No details have been announced. This makes sense and would coincide with the release of the Almost Famous: Untitled – The Bootleg Cut. More info as soon as its announced.
As promised, here’s the deleted scenes from the Jerry Maguire script. They include “Tidwell Meets Cush”, “The Two-Headed Corn Snake” and “Karaoke/Jerry Returns Home”. It will be interesting to see if any of these show up on the Jerry Maguire Special Edition DVD.

Almost Famous DVD – Bootleg Director’s Cut!

I talked to Cameron Crowe briefly tonight. Here’s what he had to say about the new Almost Famous Director’s Cut 2 DVD Set set for later this year.
- It will be called Untitled: The Bootleg Cut and have key artwork that will look like a bootleg record.
- It will have both versions of the film.
- A Stillwater CD will also be included!
- He said there weren’t plans for the Rolling Stone articles, but when I said that people wanted them, he would include them!
- Tons of Stillwater Footage (at Rock School learning to play) and the complete footage of all the Stillwater songs in concert.
- He said the DVD will be really cool and it’s for the fans….

Open Your Eyes DVD

Alejandro Amenabar’s 1997 film Abre Los Ojos (Open Your Eyes) starring Penelope Cruz is scheduled to be released on DVD next week (August 21st) by Artisan Entertainment. As you know by now, it’s the basis for Vanilla Sky, although it’s not known if it’s a straight remake or if Cameron has added some “twists and turns”. You can place your order for the DVD above.

It seems that the release date for Vanilla Sky is set for December 14, 2001. This had been previously mentioned a few months back (after mid-October had been the first date). Entertainment Weekly and Variety recently ran stories about the Fall releases and confirmed the December date.
