Many of you have asked about the deleted scenes from Elizabethtown, so we thought it would be a nice holiday/new year treat to share them with you over the next week or so. We will be adding a new, deleted scene each day. These are all from the March, 2003 draft of the script. We hope you like them.

Inquire Within: Vanilla Sky Blu-ray?

Welcome to another edition of Inquire Within… Through your submissions, Cameron will answer your questions in his own words.

Tony S.: Just wondering if there are any plans for a Blu-ray edition of Vanilla Sky?

Cameron: Thanks for the question, Tony.  The fact is that we’ve been hearing more and more about Vanilla Sky lately.  On our recent travels for We Bought A Zoo, there were a lot of questions about the movie, and a lot of passionate fans who wanted to discuss it.  It’s fueled our desire here at Vinyl Films to start planning the Blu-ray, with a new commentary track, the original ending included, and a lot more Kurt Russell, Michael Shannon, and Tilda Swinton among other elements.   I think ultimately it will come down to  Paramount hearing from the fans, so feel free to write ‘em and tell ‘em you’re  interested.  It feels like the time has come back around for the movie, which was certainly polarizing in the day, coming as it did right after 9/11…  but has now settled into its own psychedelic groove.  Certainly would be a joy for all of us to dive back in and pull out some of the rarities that were such a big part of the early cuts of “V Sky.”   Tech support!!

CC, TC and PC

Please send in your questions for Cameron and maybe yours will be part of a future installment of Inquire Within…

Crowe’s Nest: Fast Times Book, IFC Zoo Interview & More!

The Crowe’s Nest is a feature that collects random tidbits, etc. in one blog post. So let’s get started!

  • First off, glad you all enjoyed the Say Anything… deleted scenes. Don’t forget that we’ve already posted some Jerry Maguire and Singles deleted scenes.
  • The Bookfinder has released their 100 Most Sought After Out of Print in 2011 and the Fast Times at Ridgemont High book is ranked at #16. As we’ve previously discussed, Cameron owns the rights to the book, but has no plans to re-release the book at this time. Keep looking for a copy at your local thrift store, used book store or at a garage sale!
  • Cameron chats with Matt Singer over at IFC. The first interview focuses on We Bought A Zoo, Matt Damon and the holiday release date. Part 2 revolves around the Say Anything… sequel (that we’ve previously covered) and Part 3 highlights Jónsi, the music of Zoo and future film plans.
  • Lastly, I wanted to share Scion Magazine‘s quick video interview with Fast Times director Amy Heckerling from a few years back. It’s fun to see her pull Fast Times off her shelf to discuss Cameron’s first book.

Singles – Nine Deleted Scenes

More brand new (well 20 years old actually) content for you today. We’d like to share with you nine deleted scenes from 1992′s Singles! These were from Cameron’s script dated January 4, 1991. What I found most interesting when I read the script was how much of it is presented in a different order than the finished film. This speaks to previous comments where Cameron said he was going for Manhattan vignette approach. This made it easy to shuffle scenes around, but still maintain continuity. In addition to the two deleted scenes (Bailey’s French Club Fantasy and Advice to Lovelorn Steve) that can be found on the Singles DVD, we present an animated sequence, Elvis talk, the debut of Mirror Guy #1, a Janet/Dr. Jamison romantic subplot, a Debbie Hunt marathon monologue and much more with Bailey.
